Education Committee

The Education Committee is responsible for overseeing the educational activities of the Society. In particular, but not limited to the following, the Education Committee shall:

1. prepare, develop, and recommend plans for educational activities,
2. review proposals for educational activities,
3. recommend sponsorship, co-sponsorship, or technical co-sponsorship of CIS educational activities,
4. make recommendations on matters concerning educational activities, including proposals for regulations on educational activities.

Education Committee develops, promotes and oversees all educational activities.
• Multimedia Tutorials Sub-Committee stimulates and selects multimedia tutorials (audio and video tutorials) in computational intelligence theory and applications for dissemination through the CIS web site, produces and manages the multimedia tutorial archive of IEEE CIS, and selects the tutorials to be included in IEEE Expert Now;
• Summer Schools Sub-Committee stimulates and evaluates summer school proposals in computational intelligence theory and applications;
• Graduate Student Research Grants Sub-Committee reviews and awards the W. J. Karplus research grants;
• Student Games-Based Competition Sub-Committee promotes student research through games competition, organizing research results (algorithms, codes, and manuals etc.) into a central repository under educational archive;
• Pre-College Activities Sub-Committee facilitates and supports outreach to high-school students and their teachers;
• University Curricula Sub-Committee promotes creation of course modules both at undergraduate and graduate levels, encouraging book writers to contribute;
• Continuing Education Sub-Committee promotes and develops course modules specifically targeted for members in industry;
• Educational Repository Sub-Committee collects educational material in the CIS educational archive.
